The Awakened Family

How to Raise Empowered, Resilient, and Conscious Children

Are you finding yourself at a loss as a parent?

My 17-year-old is driving me nuts…so I try to figure things out how I usually do –> Dr. Google and I found Dr. Shefali.

Dr. Shefali has a different approach to parenting, which makes so much sense. And I totally see why my teenager resents me and that hurts. I thought what I’ve been doing is helping her but in fact I’m doing the opposite.

I wish I have learned these lessons early on. I realized that I’ve been trying to shape my daughter to be someone I thought or aspire her to be.

This book opens up new possibility to parenting in a spiritual way that will not only help your child but she also helps you become an enlightened parent and awaken your whole family.

“What if I told you that you can put an end to all of your parenting struggles?

That you can learn to parent without fear or anxiety?

That you can end conflict with your children?

That you can create close and connected relationships within your family?

…Would you accept this invitation to a revolution in parenting?

We all have the capacity to raise children who are highly resilient and emotionally connected. However, many of us are unable to because we are blinded by modern misconceptions of parenting and our own inner limitations. In The Awakened Family, I show you how you can cultivate a relationship with your children so they can thrive; moreover, you can be transformed to a state of greater calm, compassion and wisdom as well.

This book will take you on a journey to transcending your fears and illusions around parenting and help you become the parent you always wanted to be: fully present and conscious. It will arm you with practical, hands-on strategies and real-life examples from my experience as a parent and clinical psychologist that show the extraordinary power of being a conscious parent.

Everyone in your family is ready to be awakened.

Will you take this journey with me?”

Nutrition and Physical Degeneration

This book is amazing!!!

In this book, Dr. Price proofed that environmental factors (such as nutrition) have a great impact on physical outcome than genetics. Today, our society has learn to blame “our genetics” for every aspect of our lives and choices. But it is not.

Did you know narrow palate, crowded teeth and impacted wisdom teeth are not hereditary? And did you know what your mom and dad eat before you’re conceived determines your physical appearance and biology?

For nearly 10 years, Weston Price and his wife traveled around the world in search of the secret to health. Instead of looking at people afflicted with disease symptoms, this highly-respected dentist and dental researcher chose to focus on healthy individuals, and challenged himself to understand how they achieved such amazing health. Dr. Price traveled to hundreds of cities in a total of 14 different countries in his search to find healthy people. He investigated some of the most remote areas in the world. He observed perfect dental arches, minimal tooth decay, high immunity to tuberculosis and overall excellent health in those groups of people who ate their indigenous foods. He found when these people were introduced to modernized foods, such as white flour, white sugar, refined vegetable oils and canned goods, signs of degeneration quickly became quite evident. Dental caries, deformed jaw structures, crooked teeth, arthritis and a low immunity to tuberculosis became rampant amongst them. Dr. Price documented this ancestral wisdom including hundreds of photos in his book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.

How to Mess Up Your Child’s Life

There are several people in life you don’t want to hear say, “Oops!” Your barber, your mechanic, and your surgeon are three that come to mind. So do your parents and spouse. And yet, few of us put much thought into how we can create happier homes. Now, Christian parenting experts Kurt and Olivia Bruner have created a tongue-in-cheek but invaluable guide that helps parents move past “oops” to intentional, fun, and faith-filled parenting. In a way that keeps parents engaged amid the nonstop grind of jobs and household chores, the Bruners walk parents through the steps in creating a plan for infusing faith dynamics into the home.

I wish I have this book when I have my daughter. She’s just turned 17 this year and going to college next year. Whatever damages have been done. Oh well…I just have to hope for the best.

But for those of you with young children, don’t give up. Here’s your solution or at least a source of entertainment to laugh out parenting.

A Disease Called Childhood

New Book – “A Disease Called Childhood”.

What a sarcastic title? But very fitting.

I have the pleasure to review this book before its release on 24 March 2015.

This is book that long overdue. Dr. Wedge is brilliant and insightful. This is another whistle blower about how our society and economy is so driven by money, more specifically the financial well-being of pharmaceutical companies.

Since 1987, the number of American children diagnosed with ADHD has jumped from 3 to 11 percent. Meanwhile, ADHD rates remain relatively low in other countries such as France, Finland, the UK, and Japan, where the number of children diagnosed with and medicated for ADHD is 1 percent or less. Alarmed by this trend, family therapist Marilyn Wedge set out to understand how ADHD became an American epidemic—and to find out whether there are alternative treatments to powerful prescription drugs.

In A Disease Called Childhood, Wedge examines the factors that have created a generation addicted to stimulant drugs. Instead of focusing only on treating symptoms, she looks at the various potential causes of hyperactivity and inattention in children, and behavioral and environmental—as opposed to strictly biological—treatments that have been proven to help. In the process, Wedge offers a new paradigm for child mental health—and a better, happier, and less medicated future for American children.

In “A Disease Called Childhood”, Wedge also explored the reason behind the increasing epidemic of ADHD in children, and why the current so-called “conventional” treatment with medication is not the real solution.

In today’s society, it feels like everyone who does not fit in the norm of the expected set of normal behaviors, you’ll be labeled.

If you keep having trouble focusing or remembering things, you have ADHD. Did anyone ever look into your life to see that maybe you’re not sleeping enough at night? Or maybe there’s trouble in the families or relationship is that taking your attention away?

I hope this book will bring more awareness to parents, educators and mostly the medical society.

Every parent with children with ADHD or suspects their children has ADHD should read this book first.
